Spencer House gave his two cents on his Tell Me Lies character's most controversial wig

House played Wrigley in the three-season drama series that wrapped Feb. 17

"[Wrigley] got to hide behind humor and hair," Spencer told Entertainment Tonight

Spencer House is getting candid about Wrigley's wig — yes, the "crusty" one.

House, who played popular football player Mike Wrigley on the college drama series, opened up about that wig that immediately grabbed fans' attention in the show's finale on Feb. 17.

Appearing on Entertainment Tonight after the finale aired, House addressed the multiple transformations his character's hair experienced throughout the show and named his favorite wig.

"[My favorite wig was] the one where I looked like the Geico caveman," House admitted. "That was my inspiration."

The wig, which House wore to portray Wrigley during the 2015 scenes, quickly became a point of controversy for fans of the show, with many online dubbing the 'do "crusty" and "atrocious" compared to Wrigley's other looks.

The Geico caveman — part of a campaign the insurance brand aired during the mid 2000s — was known for its signature unkempt look, which featured the same chin-length, stringy locks as Wrigley's 2015 wig.

Catherine Missal, who played Wrigley's love interest Bree on some of the show, joined House for the ET interview and reminded her costar of the scene from Bree's wedding, in which they both donned wigs.

"Both of us staring at each other in our wigs was like the funniest thing ever," Missal said, as House recalled they had to "lock eyes on the dance floor" in that serious moment.

"I loved it because Wrigley got to hide the whole time. He got to hide behind humor and hair," House added, noting that he didn't wear a wig in the first two seasons to play Wrigley.

Unfortunately for House, he didn't get to keep any of the several wigs his character wore throughout the final season. "Those wigs are very expensive," he said, smiling. "They wouldn't let me take them."
