Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are bewitching in the trailer for Practical Magic 2.
On Monday, April 20, Warner Bros. released the trailer for its upcoming sequel to the iconic 1998 film Practical Magic. Bullock, 61, and Kidman, 58, reprise their roles as sisters (and witches) Sally and Gillian Owens in the new movie. Practical Magic 2 sees the lives of sisters Sally Owens (Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Kidman) shaken up when a mysterious figure (Lee Pace) arrives in their quaint New England town with a new quest for them.
Warner Bros. did not offer a full synopsis for the forthcoming sequel and instead simply wrote, "The magic returns," as a logline for the movie.
Kidman first announced that Practical Magic would receive a sequel in a 2024 interview with PEOPLE, in which she said she and Bullock "found a way in" to returning to the world of the original movie. “The enduring affection for these characters has been our inspiration to deliver the next installment in the Owens’ story to new fans, and those who’ve been with us since the beginning,” the filmmaking team behind the sequel said in a 2025 statement about the movie.
Bullock and Kidman recently offered a preview of the movie at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on April 14, where they gleefully announced, "The witches are back!"

Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest are also set to reprise their roles as the eclectic aunts who raised the Owens sisters: Channing, 82, will once again play Frances "Franny" Owens, the more no-nonsense of the pair, while Wiest, 78, returns as the whimsical Bridget "Jet" Owens.
Practical Magic 2 is co-written by original screenwriter Akiva Goldman and Succession’s Georgia Pitchett. Both Bullock and Kidman are producers on the movie. For Bullock, the movie is the first film she has starred in since 2022, when she appeared in The Lost City and Bullet Train.

The original Practical Magic film, based on the 1995 novel by Alice Hoffman, follows Gillian and Sally as they strive to ward off a curse that was meant to keep any women in their family from ever falling in love and results in the deaths of men in their life whom they fall in love with.
Practical Magic 2 will release in theaters Sept. 18.
